COURSE HOURS:  30 hours (including end-of-course examination of 1 hour) 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  The Post 301 – Broker Relationship and Responsibilities course is one of the three 30-classroom hour courses in the North Carolina mandatory Postlicensing (PL) education program.

Topics covered include: 

  • Agency Relationships and Duties - A Practical Review
  • Working with Sellers (Residential Sales)
  • Working with Buyers (Residential Sales)
  • Miscellaneous Related Issues

REQUIRED TEXTBOOK: NC RE Commission Manual (c) 2021 *not included in the class tuition Printed textbook may be purchased online or by pickup at the Canopy Realtor® Store.*Shipping and handling fees may apply The Digital Online Subscription can be purchased from the NCREC. 

Students should purchase the textbook prior to the first scheduled class. Students must bring the textbook to each Broker Postlicensing class. Failure to adhere to this policy could result in a student not passing the course and not receiving a certificate of completion.

ADDITIONAL COURSE MATERIAL(S):  Student Course Packet and handouts will be provided via Canopy Campus prior to start of course.   

NOTE:  Hardcopies of student materials may be available upon request by emailing canopyreinstitute@canopyrealtors.com.  Shipping and handling charges will apply if request is for delivery. Arrangements must be made for request by pickup at our office.  Canopy Real Estate Institute is located at 1120 Pearl Park Way, Charlotte, NC 28204 and open Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4pm, excluding holidays. 

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: Please view our  Canopy’s Synchronous Live Stream Class Policy.  Equipment required: 

  • Working desktop computer/laptop with a keyboard. Cell phone usage as a primary device is strictly prohibited, but a tablet is allowed if it has the same functionality as a desktop computer or laptop.
  • A reliable high-speed internet connection. 
  • Microphone
  • Webcam (Internal or external cameras must be connected or built-in to your computer) 
  • Quiet environment with no distractions  

If a student experiences technology or connectivity issues throughout the duration of the class, they may be asked to reschedule to a future session, so please make sure your connection is stable prior to the start of class.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT:   You are required to attend 90% of this class.  Students are not allowed to make up missed time. Should a student miss more than three (3) hours of the class time, or the first day of class, they will need to take retake the course. Students cannot make up missed time due to lateness or absences. Students should ensure they can attend the required classroom hours before registering for a class.

COMPLETION & PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT:  A passing score 75% on the end-of-course examination is required for successful completion of the course. You will not receive credit for class time and participation if you fail to adhere to the policies outlined in our  Policies and Procedures Disclosure.

COURSE CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULING: A student may withdraw from a course by giving written notice to the school prior to the start of the course. Please see  Policies and Procedures Disclosure regarding withdrawals and rescheduling options.  

Canopy Real Estate Institute reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses that have not yet begun as needed.  Our minimum enrollment requirement is ten (10) students. Students enrolled in a rescheduled or cancelled course that has not yet begun will be given a minimum of 24-hour notice of the cancellation or new course schedule.  Students will have the option to reschedule to another course or receive a full tuition refund, if applicable.  Students who cannot attend the rescheduled course date(s) have the option to be counted as absent, reschedule to another course, or receive a full tuition refund. 

If an instructor's connectivity fails during a virtual/live-stream course and instruction cannot take place as scheduled, Canopy Real Estate Institute will reschedule the missed date(s) as needed.

Additional required materials for class:

A student may withdraw from a course by giving written notice to the Canopy Real Estate Institute prior to the start of the course. In such event, the student will have the following options:
a) transfer to another course with full tuition credit (only twice within six months), or 
b) receive a refund less a $50 administrative services fee.

A student must withdraw or transfer according to the following schedule:

Weekends (9:00am - 2:30pm) before the second weekend of class

After class has started, students who withdraw will receive a tuition refund less $75 (a $50 administrative service fee and $25 materials charge). If the request to withdraw is made after the schedule indicated above, students will not be entitled to a refund of any portion of paid tuition.

There are no refunds for no shows or withdrawals without written notice.
