COURSE DESCRIPTION: 
This course helps real estate professionals interrupt stereotypical thinking so they can avoid fair housing pitfalls and provide equal professional service to every customer or client. Participants will examine the history of bias in real estate, learn about the mind science of identity, study how implicit bias can result in fair housing violations, and engage in interactive exercises to enhance communication skills and business relationships with clients of all backgrounds.


This course satisfies the following: 

  • NC CE elective credit (4 hours)  
  • SC CE elective credit (4 hours) 
  • One (1) educational opportunity for Canopy's Workforce Housing C.A.R.E. Certificate Program
  • NAR's Fair Housing requirement (2 hours)


COURSE MATERIALS: Student materials will be provided on the day of the class. Materials will also be available for download via your Student Dashboard

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT:  Students are required to attend 90% of this class. Students cannot make up missed time due to lateness or absences, and must attend the full duration of the class to receive credit. Students should ensure they can attend the required classroom hours before registering for a class. Students cannot use the allotted 10% to leave the class early. Students cannot miss more than 20 minutes to receive credit for the course. 

COMPLETION & PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT: Students will not receive credit for class time and participation if they fail to adhere to the policies outlined in our Policies and Procedures Disclosure.

COURSE CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULING: Canopy Real Estate Institute reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses that have not yet begun as needed. Our minimum enrollment requirement is ten (10) students. Students enrolled in a rescheduled or cancelled course that has not yet begun will be given a minimum of 24-hour notice of the cancellation or new course schedule. Students will have the option to reschedule to another course or receive a full tuition refund, if applicable. Students who cannot attend the rescheduled course date(s) have the option to be counted as absent, reschedule to another course, or receive a full tuition refund.

Students may cancel up to five (5) business days prior to the course start date (April 3, 2025) for a refund.  After the deadline, tuition CANNOT be refunded.  Course holds can be made where applicable, though the course may not be offered again soon.
