Fiduciary Duties in North Carolina - In-Person Fri., May 22nd, 2026 from 2:00pm - 6:00pm CREDIT HOURS: 4 hours - NC Elective *As of July 1, 2024, if you're a non-resident with a real estate license in South Carolina, you now need to take CE courses that are specifically approved by South Carolina, rather than using CE courses from your home state to satisfy SC requirements. These courses need to be offered by SC-approved providers and meet the standards set by the South Carolina Real Estate Commission. This course breaks down fiduciary duties in a clear, practical way and shows exactly how they operate within agency relationships. You’ll learn when agency is created, how fiduciary duties attach to clients (not customers), and how to confidently navigate buyer agency, seller agency, and complex scenarios like dual and designated agency. More importantly, you’ll discover how mastering fiduciary duties serves as a powerful risk management tool—helping you avoid costly mistakes, reduce liability, and stay compliant in every transaction. If you want to sharpen your skills, make better decisions, and practice with confidence, this course is for you. COURSE MATERIALS: Students will receive a hardcopy of the course materials when you arrive to class. Course materials will also be located in your student dashboard available for download via Canopy Campus prior to start of course. ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT: Students are required to attend 90% of this class. Students cannot make up missed time due to lateness or absences. Students should ensure they can attend the required classroom hours before registering for a class. Students cannot use the allotted 10% to leave the class early. COMPLETION & PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT: You will not receive credit for class time and participation if you fail to adhere to the policies outlined in our Policies and Procedures Disclosure. COURSE CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULING: Canopy Real Estate Institute reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses that have not yet begun as needed. Our minimum enrollment requirement is ten (10) students. Students enrolled in a rescheduled or cancelled course that has not yet begun will be given a minimum of 24-hour notice of the cancellation or new course schedule. Students will have the option to reschedule to another course or receive a full tuition refund, if applicable. Students who cannot attend the rescheduled course date(s) have the option to be counted as absent, reschedule to another course, or receive a full tuition refund. CE WITHDRAWALS/TRANSFERS/REFUNDS: Canopy Real Estate Institute DOES NOT provide refunds for continuing education courses. A student may withdraw from a course by giving written notice to the school prior to day of course. In such event, the student will be rescheduled to a future course or registration placed on HOLD status. Courses due to transfers, rescheduling or registration HOLDS must be completed on or before June 10 of the same license period and CANNOT be applied to another license period. A student may transfer their course registration one-time with no penalty, provided that the new course is comparable, hasn't started and the fee remains unchanged.
